3DPrint.com’s 3D Printing in Metal: An Overview of Additive Manufacturing with Metals has completed its two weeks and is off to a great start. We’ve been thrilled to offer more educational opportunities over the past year or so, and we’re looking forward to the next one, which we’re already planning for!
From June 5 through 7 will be the 3DPrint.com Innovation Showcase, a conference-style online event with live guest speaker sessions, product demos, and audience Q&A sessions, plus resources and discussions broken out into various industry categories.
Topics will range all over the 3D printing industry and will include metal, industrial plastics, electronics, medical, 3D scanning, generative design, footwear, eyewear, full-color 3D printing, open source vs. closed source, higher speed industrial 3D printing, post processing and automated technologies, and the democratization of 3D printing.
The first two sessions take place on June 5 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. Session One will consist of the opening keynote (speaker to be announced). Session Two is called The Democratization of 3D Printing Technology, and will be led by software developer Salvatore Richter, an expert in coding in OpenSCAD. He will take a look at the lessons learned from the way technology has evolved in the last two decades and how he believes 3D printing will follow a parallel path. One factor he’ll discuss is the widespread availability of 3D printing technology and the pricing developments of printers and materials that are driving disruptive change.
On June 6, Session One will be led by Tim Ruffner, Commercial Sales Channel Manager – Midwest Region for Desktop Metal. Entitled Design Considerations for Metal Additive Manufacturing, this session will cover everything you need to know to begin designing a prototype or part for 3D printing in metal. Session Two is called When Will 3D Printing Hit the Mainstream Consumer? and will be led by Pete Weijmarshausen, Co-Founder of Beheld 3D and Co-Founder and former CEO of Shapeways, and Kat Kinkead, Co-Founder and CEO of Beheld 3D. This session will look at the rise of 3D printing in recent years and some of the challenges it still faces in becoming relevant and accessible to the average consumer.
On June 7, Session One will be called Generative Design: The Live Parts that ‘Grow’ Parts, and Session Two will be called The Holy Grail of 3D Printing: Full Color 3D Printing. Speakers are to be announced for these two sessions.
