Although there are a handful companies out there working to produce the optimal electronic 3D printing system, such as Optomec and BotFactory, very few of them have the hype and financial backing of Israel-based 3D printing company Nano Dimension. As their 2016 financial reports have shown thus far, Nano Dimension has had a lot of momentum propelling them to the front of the electronics 3D printing pack, much of it coming from resounding investments, as well as their recent collaborative efforts with a number of educational institutions and renowned establishments.
After unveiling their DragonFly 2020 desktop electronic 3D printer at the tail-end of last year, Nano Dimension has been working diligently to release the accompanying Switch software, which was revealed back in July. Throughout this year, they’ve also collaborated with Tel Aviv University to develop a 3D printable nickel nano ink, and have even ventured into bioprinting with the premier stem cell culturing solutions provider Accellta Ltd. All in all, the company is shaping up to be one of the most successful in the field of multilayer PCB and 3D circuitry printing, which they hope to undoubtedly prove with their latest supply deal.
Nano Dimension has announced that their first-ever DragonFly 2020 3D printing system has been supplied to a leading Israeli defense company. The defense company, which has yet to be publicly disclosed, is expected to have the electronic 3D printer installed and running in the new couple of days. According to Nano Dimension, their first-ever customer will help evaluate their DragonFly 2020 3D printing system, and is a key step to the future commercialization of their products. Needless to say, the supply deal is an important milestone for the 3D printing company, and will likely be monumental in the final productization of their multilayer PCB 3D printer.
“Supplying our first system to a beta partner is a tremendous achievement for Nano Dimension and the electronic industry. Nano Dimension set an ambitious goal to develop a revolutionary product that – until now – did not exist in the market, based on advanced technology that combines hardware, nano-chemistry and software,” said Amit Dror, CEO of Nano Dimension. “Today, only two years since our first fundraising and since our shares began trading on the TASE, we mark this important milestone of supplying our first system to a beta partner, enabling them to print multilayer electric circuits in several hours. This being the first 3D printing system that has been supplied by Nano Dimension, the Israeli defense company will almost certainly be offering feedback on the printer’s ability to efficiently produce multilayer electric circuits. Since being founded in 2012, Nano Dimension has spent most of their time and resources on R&D purposes, so this announcement of the first-ever supply deal for the DragonFly 2020 is electrifying news for both Nano Dimension and the 3D printing industry as a whole.
