It’s only a matter of time before we begin to see 3D printing stores pop up all over the world. Right now, they are few and far between, mostly because 3D printing is a newly available technology. One company, iMakr hopes that they have gotten into the market at just the right time.
iMakr already has one store located in Central London, and just yesterday they held their grand opening for their Central Manhattan store, located on 152 Allen Street, in the Lower East Side of NYC.
“The store, intends to replicate the success of iMakr’s first 3D printing store located in Central London,” Rees Calder, Marketing Coordinator for iMakr told 3DPrint.com. “iMakr stocks high quality, hand-picked 3D printers and 3D printing supplies, and offers one-of-a-kind training and support. iMakr is excited to be spreading to the US market, and looks forward to making 3D printing technology accessible to consumers across the board.”
The grand opening event was a great success, with hundreds of industry players, journalists and 3D printing innovators turning up for the occasion. Guests lined up for the event well before the 6PM scheduled opening, and were then greeted with a speech from iMakr’s founder, Sylvain Preumont. This was followed by celebratory drinks and 3D printing related entertainment, which included a live performance on a 3D printed violin.
All-in-all, there were about 300 people who attended the event, including some well known notables. Sam Cervantes, CEO of Solidoodle; Michele Marchesan, COO of 3D Systems; Brian Quan, Managing Director of Tier Time US; Josh Ellis, Founder of MakerJuice; and Erica Fingar, Product Manager of NinjaFlex were in attendance. Also attending were several employees from MakerBot and Ultimaker.
Calder also told us that iMakr plans to expand even further in the future, both within the United States and worldwide. There are no solid expansion plans as of yet.
iMakr stocks a large list of high quality, hand-picked 3D printers and 3D printing supplies. They also offer training, workshops and support programs for those interested in learning about 3D printing. For those interested in seeing some of the magnificent things that can be 3D printed, the store has many objects from world famous artists and designers, that have been printed on various 3D printers.
